Ingredients

For the Banana Bread

  • 4 ripe bananas (mashed) Ensure bananas are very ripe for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted) Melt before adding to the mixture.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

For the Salted Caramel Glaze

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well-blended. Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it’s a golden color, stirring regularly. Slowly add the heavy cream and butter, stirring until combined. Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt.
  • Once the banana bread is cool, drizzle the salted caramel glaze over the top. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For added texture, consider mixing in walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
