Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 lbs round steak Cut into 1-2 inch thick pieces
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Seasoning and Cooking

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for searing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the round steak into manageable pieces, about 1-2 inches thick. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper.

Searing

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add cooking oil. Once hot, sear each piece of steak until browned on both sides (about 2-3 minutes).

Combining Ingredients

  • In your crock pot, combine the seared steak, onion soup mix, beef broth, and cream of mushroom soup. Stir to ensure the steak is well-coated with the mixture.

Slow Cooking

  • Cover the crock pot and set it on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours. The steak is ready when it is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Serving

  • Once done, give the gravy a stir. Serve your Crock Pot Round Steak and Gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite sides.

Notes

If substituting, replace cream of mushroom soup with a Halal-friendly option or a homemade cream sauce. Avoid overcooking the steak to prevent mushiness, and adjust seasoning based on the saltiness of your broth and soup. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for three months.
