  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows Optional, add during the last 30 minutes.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Place the sliced yams into the Crock Pot. Pour the sugar mixture over the yams, making sure they are evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Cover, set your Crock Pot on low, and let it cook for about 4-6 hours. If you're pressed for time, you can cook on high for about 2-3 hours.
  • If you are using mini marshmallows, add them during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow them to melt slightly and create a delicious topping.
