Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Cooking spray or oil for baking

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray or oil.
  • Slice the fish fillets into equal-sized strips, about one inch wide.
  • Set up a breading station: In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Breading and Baking

  • Dip each fish strip into the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs and let the excess drip off. Finally, coat the fish in the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Arrange the coated fish sticks on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Serving

  • Allow to cool for a few minutes, then serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Feel free to use whole wheat flour or gluten-free breadcrumbs for a healthier option. Adjust baking time based on the thickness of your fish strips. Ensure to pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel before breading to avoid sogginess. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 2 months.
