Cuisine French
- 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1 lb crab meat
- 4 cups seafood stock
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- olive oil for sautéing
- fresh parsley for garnish
- salt and pepper to taste
Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pot, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then, add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning: Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, and thyme. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, letting those flavors meld together.
Incorporate the Stock: Pour in the seafood stock and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes. Allow it to develop those wonderful flavors!
Mix in the Cream: Gradually stir in the heavy cream, making your bisque rich and luxurious. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Add Seafood: Carefully add the shrimp and crab meat to the pot. Cook until the shrimp is pink and opaque, about 5 more minutes, being cautious not to overcook the seafood.
Season to Taste: Finally, season with salt and pepper to your liking, and you have your Creamy Seafood Bisque ready to serve!
