Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb crab meat (preferably lump crab for best texture) Fresh crab recommended for best flavor.
  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined, medium-sized) Use fresh or properly thawed frozen shrimp.
  • 4 cups seafood stock (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 medium carrots (diced)
  • 1 stalk celery (diced)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning Or your preferred seafood seasoning.
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, carrots, and celery; sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the seafood stock, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Adjust to your taste preferences!
  • Reduce the heat and slowly stir in the heavy cream. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the crab meat and shrimp to the pot. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the shrimp turns pink and the crab is heated through.
  • Remove from heat and ladle the bisque into bowls. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for about a month, noting that texture may change upon reheating. To reheat, warm gently on the stove over low heat, avoiding boiling.
