Ingredients
  

For the pastry

  • 1 cup water Use fresh water.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, diced Ensure the butter is diced for easier melting.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Sifted flour is recommended for better texture.
  • 4 large eggs Make sure they are at room temperature.

For the filling

  • 1 cup heavy cream Use chilled heavy cream for better whipping.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar Adjust the sweetness to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a medium saucepan, bring the water and diced butter to a rolling boil over medium heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and quickly add the flour. Stir vigorously until a ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 1 minute.
  • Remove the pan from heat and let it cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is shiny and smooth.
  • Use a pastry bag or spoon to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each puff.

Baking

  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed up.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.

Filling

  • In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Once cool, slice the puffs in half and fill them with the whipped cream mixture. Replace the tops.

Serving

  • Dust with powdered sugar on top and enjoy your homemade Cream Puff Dessert!

Notes

Don't open the oven door too soon during baking to ensure the puffs rise properly. Fill puffs just before serving for the best taste.
