Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (or plant-based milk of your choice)
  • 1 tsp dried lavender flowers
  • 1 tsp loose black tea (or 1 black tea bag)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1-2 tbsp honey or sweetener of your choice (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil the Water: In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  • Steep the Tea: Once boiling, add the loose black tea or tea bag and dried lavender flowers. Allow it to steep on medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Prepare the Milk: In another saucepan, heat the milk over low heat until it’s warm but not boiling. If you’re using plant-based milk, be careful not to overheat.
  • Combine: After steeping, strain the tea mixture to remove the lavender and tea leaves. Then, mix this tea with the warmed milk.
  • Sweeten: Stir in your honey or sweetener, along with the vanilla extract if desired, and mix well to combine.
  • Serve: Pour your cozy lavender milk tea latte into your favorite mug. Optionally, sprinkle a little lavender or cinnamon on top for an extra touch of elegance.
  • Enjoy!: Take a moment to sit back, relax, and savor every sip of your homemade latte!

Notes

If you’re looking for alternatives, feel free to use different types of tea such as green or oolong, but stick to floral or lightly flavored options to maintain the palate balance. Avoid boiling your milk; overheating can cause it to curdle or develop an off taste. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. When reheating, warm it gently over low heat.
