  • 1 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts optional
  • 1/4 cup dried fruits optional

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Stir until well mixed.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, milk (or non-dairy alternative), and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until everything is combined. If using nuts or dried fruits, add them now.
  • Lightly grease a baking dish with non-stick spray or a little oil.
  • Pour the oatmeal mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares and serve warm.

Notes

Storing Tips: Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or the whole dish in the oven.
