  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar or maple syrup Adjust to your preference
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • a pinch Salt

Optional Toppings

  • Chopped nuts
  • Shredded coconut
  • Dried fruits
  • Honey

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering your rolled oats, diced apples, and other ingredients. It’s a good idea to dice the apples small for even cooking.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the rolled oats and water or milk. Stir occasionally.
  • As the mixture begins to heat, add in the diced apples, brown sugar or maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oats are soft and creamy. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.

Serving

  • Once cooked, remove from heat and let sit for a minute. Serve warm and top with your choice of nuts, honey, or any of your favorite toppings.
