Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter Softened
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour Heat-treated
  • ½ cup brown sugar Packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips or chunks
  • 2-3 tbsp milk As needed
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

For the Rice Krispie Mixture

  • 4 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter For melting

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and heat-treated flour. Mix until creamy.
  • Add vanilla extract, salt, and milk, mixing until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

Prepare Rice Krispie Mixture

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Once melted, stir in the mini marshmallows and continue stirring until completely melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies, mixing until evenly coated.

Assemble the Treats

  • In a greased pan (an 8x8 inch works well), press half of the Rice Krispie mixture into the bottom.
  • Create a well in the center and scoop the cookie dough onto that.
  • Press the remaining Rice Krispies on top, ensuring they encapsulate the cookie dough.

Set and Serve

  • Let the treats cool completely, then cut into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free Rice Krispies and substitute the flour for a gluten-free blend. Ensure low heat while melting ingredients to prevent burning. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, refrigerated for a week, or frozen for a month.
