Ingredients
  

Tofu Preparation

  • 1 block firm tofu Drain and press before cooking.

Coconut-Lime Sauce

  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup Adds sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (halal-friendly) For flavor.
  • 1 each juice and zest of 1 lime Provides freshness.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For coating tofu.
  • to taste salt and pepper Season to preference.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Drain the block of firm tofu and press it between paper towels for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

Make the Sauce

  • In a bowl, whisk together the coconut milk, lime juice, lime zest, soy sauce, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.

Cook the Tofu

  • Mix the cornstarch with a little salt and pepper in a separate bowl. Toss the tofu cubes in this mixture until evenly coated.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add a little oil, and fry the coated tofu for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  • Remove the tofu and set aside.

Combine Everything

  • In the same skillet, pour in the coconut-lime sauce and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  • Return the crispy tofu to the pan and stir to coat every piece with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serve

  • Serve your coconut lime tofu over cooked rice or quinoa and garnish with fresh cilantro.

Notes

Tofu Substitutes: Replace with chickpeas or paneer if preferred. Ensure proper pressing for crispy texture.
