Main Ingredients

  • 12 sheets Lasagna Noodles (no-boil or regular) Use your preferred type.
  • 1 pound Ground Halal Beef
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces Canned Crushed Tomatoes
  • 15 ounces Tomato Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black Pepper, to taste
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

Instructions

Prepping and Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and sizzle until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Incorporate the minced garlic and ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Cheese Mixture and Assembly

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat sauce, and a handful of mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, and a generous topping of mozzarella.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until bubbling and golden on top.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the lasagna to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Letting the lasagna sit before serving makes cutting easier and ensures that the layers hold together beautifully. Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
