Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Sifted for best results
  • ½ cup butter, softened Cold butter can be used for flakiness
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 pieces eggs Large eggs recommended
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup sugar for topping Mixed with cinnamon for topping the cruffins

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, and set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually, mixing just until combined to avoid overworking the dough.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously on top of each cruffin.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until they are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cruffins to cool slightly before transferring them to a wire rack. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For flakier layers, consider using cold butter and folding it into the mix. Feel free to add chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit preserves for a fun twist. Keep an eye on your cruffins as they bake to achieve the perfect golden brown.
