Ingredients
  

  • 6 large apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup apple juice or water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water

  • Prepare the Apples
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into even wedges for consistent cooking.
  • Mix the Ingredients
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple juice or water. Stir well to form a sweet, spiced syrup.
  • Add to Slow Cooker
  • Place the sliced apples into the slow cooker. Pour the syrup mixture over the apples, tossing gently to ensure all slices are evenly coated.
  • Cook on Low
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Thicken the Sauce
  • About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with cold water) to thicken the sauce. Continue cooking until the apples are tender and the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve
  • Once cooked, transfer the apples to a serving dish and enjoy warm.
