Ingredients

Macaron Shells

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup egg whites (approximately 3 large eggs, aged for a day)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Halal)
  • 1 pinch salt

Chocolate Filling

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (Halal)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and use a template if desired to create even-sized circles for your macarons.
  • In a mixing bowl, sift together the almond flour, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder thoroughly.

Making the Macaron Shells

  • In a separate bowl, start beating the egg whites with a pinch of salt until foamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  • Gently fold the dry mixture into the egg whites using a spatula.
  • Transfer the macaron batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe little circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Allow the macarons to sit at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes until they form a dry shell.
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake the macarons for 15 to 20 minutes. Let them cool completely on the baking sheet.

Making the Filling and Assembly

  • Melt the dark chocolate chips and mix with the vanilla extract until smooth. Let it cool, then spread or pipe onto half of the macaron shells before sandwiching together.
