Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional, ensure they are Halal-approved

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing at a low speed until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft.

Cooling

  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For lighter cookies, consider using half butter and half unsweetened applesauce. Cookies will stay chewier if removed slightly underbaked. Prepare and freeze dough for later use.
