Wet Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Look for bananas with brown spots for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Can substitute with nuts or other add-ins.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well incorporated, then add the egg and whisk until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For perfect bars, avoid overmixing and adjust baking time to prevent dryness. Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
