  • 1 can 15 oz chili (any flavor you prefer)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping
  • 1 bag 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (optional) can be omitted
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper for seasoning

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned chili, sour cream, diced tomatoes (if using), chili powder, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until everything is well blended.
  • Pour the chili mixture into a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  • Carefully arrange the frozen tater tots on top of the chili mixture in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top.

Baking

  • Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Customization is key: Experiment with different varieties of chili or homemade chili. You can also add diced green onions, sliced olives, or more cheese on top!
