  • 4 medium-sized turnips, peeled and cut into wedges Choose firm, smooth-skinned turnips for the best flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use freshly grated for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • to taste Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Peel and cut the turnips into wedges, ensuring they are uniformly sized.

Tossing and Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine the turnip wedges with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until well coated.
  • Add the grated Parmesan cheese and mix well to coat each piece.

Baking

  • Spread the cheesy turnips in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for a minute before garnishing with chopped parsley.

Notes

For an even crispier crust, broil for a couple of minutes at the end. Customize the seasoning with smoked paprika or Italian herbs if desired. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
