Ingredients

Casserole Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite blend)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for flavor)
  • as needed Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Add the ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using), and brown until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer the casserole starting with a layer of sliced potatoes on the bottom, followed by the cooked beef mixture. Pour the milk evenly over the layers, and sprinkle half of your shredded cheese on top.
  • Add another layer of potatoes on top of the cheese, followed by the remaining ground beef mix, and finish with the last of the potatoes. Top it off with the remaining cheese.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serving

  • Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
