Cabbage Steaks

  • 1 head head of cabbage Choose a firm and fresh head for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) You can use any cheese you prefer!
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For brushing the cabbage steaks.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to your preference.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds flavor to the seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds flavor to the seasoning.
  • as desired Parsley for garnish (optional) Garnish before serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the cabbage into thick steaks, about 1 inch thick.
  • Brush both sides of the cabbage steaks with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Place the cabbage steaks on a baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Remove from the oven, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each steak, and return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 5 days. You can also prepare the cabbage ahead of time and bake it when ready. Broiling the steaks for an additional minute after adding cheese will give it a crispy texture.
