  • 1 cup butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute for gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Adjust based on taste preference.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional) Can use different types of chocolate or add nuts.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  • Gradually mix in the sugar, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  • Fold in the caramel sauce and chocolate chips, if using.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before moving them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about 5-7 days, or freeze for up to three months. Serve with a drizzle of extra caramel sauce if desired.
