  • 8 cups cubed bread (preferably day-old)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 2 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the cubed bread.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, caramel sauce, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, gently folding it to evenly coat the bread. Add in the sliced apples and mix lightly.
  • Grease a baking dish and pour the mixture into it. Press it down slightly.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.
  • Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, topped with additional caramel drizzle or nuts if desired.

Notes

Use any bread available, like croissants or whole grain. Prepare it the night before and bake in the morning. For a caramel variation, consider honey or maple syrup. Avoid over-baking.
