  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 3 cups finely chopped apples (about 3 medium apples) Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped apples gently until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Once the cake is cool, drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
