  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (ensure halal compliance)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional, for added texture

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and stir in the brown sugar until smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Place the pretzel twists in a large mixing bowl and pour the toffee mixture over them. Use a spatula to mix well.

Baking

  • Spread the coated pretzels evenly onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  • While the pretzels are baking, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Once the pretzels are out of the oven, drizzle the melted chocolate over them while they are still warm. Optionally, sprinkle nuts at this stage.
  • Allow the toffee pretzels to cool completely on the baking sheet until the chocolate has set, about 30 minutes.

Serving

  • Once cool, break apart any stuck sections, and serve your Butter Toffee Pretzels at your next family gathering.

Notes

For a vegan option, use dairy-free butter and chocolate chips. Watch the pretzels closely as they bake to ensure they turn golden but don’t burn. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze to maintain their shape.
