- 1 package 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 4 large eggs whisked (reserve 1 tablespoon for egg wash)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese
- 1/4 cup sautéed spinach optional
- 1/4 cup cooked sausage or diced cooked chicken optional
- 1/4 cup diced bell peppers or onions optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry sheets slightly on a floured surface, if needed. Cut each sheet into rectangles (approximately 4x6 inches).
Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs (reserving 1 tablespoon for the egg wash), cheese, and any optional vegetables or proteins. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the Bars:
Spoon a small amount of filling onto one half of each puff pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the other half over the filling, sealing the edges with a fork.
Apply the Egg Wash:
Brush the tops of the puff pastry with the reserved egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake the Bars:
Place the bars on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the bars to cool for a few minutes before serving.
