Pastry

  • 1 package crescent roll dough For the base of the Danish

Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Should be well-softened for easy mixing
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar To sweeten the filling
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Adds flavor to the filling
  • 1 egg for the egg wash Gives a golden finish
  • as needed tsp powdered sugar For dusting on top, optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface, pinching seams together to form a rectangle. Cut into squares.
  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square. Leave space at the edges to seal.
  • Fold corners towards the center and press down lightly to seal the filling inside.
  • Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush over the tops of each Danish.
  • Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

Tips to enhance your Danish: Use well-softened cream cheese, experiment with flavored extracts, and add fresh fruit or berries for color. Keep an eye on them while baking to avoid overbaking.
