blackened steak

Let’s talk about the ultimate indulgence: tender blackened steak, juicy shrimp, and silky Alfredo sauce all tossed with perfectly cooked pasta. This dish is my go-to when I want to feel fancy without spending hours in the kitchen. The smoky, spicy kick from the blackened seasoning paired with the rich, creamy Alfredo is a match made in food heaven. Bonus? It’s ready in 30 minutes flat.

Equipment

  • 8 oz fettuccine or pasta of choice
  • 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp blackened seasoning (store-bought or homemade—see notes)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving

Ingredients

  • 8 oz fettuccine or pasta of choice
  • 1 lb sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • 12 oz large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp blackened seasoning store-bought or homemade—see notes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese plus extra for serving

Instructions

  • Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter with remaining olive oil. Sauté garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan until melted and smooth. Add reserved pasta water as needed to thin the sauce.
  • Combine: Toss cooked pasta, steak, and shrimp in the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve: Divide into bowls, garnish with parsley or red pepper flakes, and sprinkle with extra Parmesan.
  • Pro Tips
  • Homemade Blackened Seasoning: Mix 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp thyme, ½ tsp cayenne, and ½ tsp black pepper.
  • Shrimp Swap: Use chicken or scallops if you’re not a shrimp fan.
  • Extra Creamy: Add a splash of cream cheese or mascarpone to the Alfredo sauce.
  • Serving Suggestions
  • Pair with garlic bread, a crisp Caesar salad, or a glass of Chardonnay for the full experience.
