- 1 loaf French bread or brioche about 10 cups, cubed
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract divided
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and layer half the bread cubes.
Beat cream cheese with 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth. Drop over bread.
Top with remaining bread cubes.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and remaining vanilla. Pour over bread.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
