Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Can substitute with milk and vinegar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter Make sure it is cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries Do not thaw frozen blueberries

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Add until smooth

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or use a silicone mold for easy removal.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until all ingredients are well-blended.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  • Slowly add the wet ingredient mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  • Gently fold in the blueberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about halfway full.

Baking

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Glazing

  • While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze by combining powdered sugar with a little milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle over the donuts when they are cool.

Notes

For best results, avoid overmixing the batter. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or refrigerate for a longer shelf life. Donuts can be frozen for up to three months.
