  • 1 whole ripe avocado Choose a ripe avocado for the best creamy texture.
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna in water or oil, drained
  • 1-2 tablespoons diced red onion Adjust according to taste.
  • 1-2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or parsley Optional, can substitute with other herbs.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Preferably freshly squeezed.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional diced celery, chopped bell peppers, or spices These can be added for extra flavor and crunch.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and chop the onion and any optional vegetables you wish to include.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe avocado with a fork until creamy but still slightly chunky.
  • Drain the canned tuna and add it to the mashed avocado. Stir gently to combine.
  • Add the diced red onion and chopped cilantro (or parsley) to the mixture.
  • Squeeze in the lime juice and season with salt and pepper. Adjust flavors to your liking.
  • If using, fold in any additional veggies or spices for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Enjoy right away on a bed of greens, in a sandwich, or with crackers.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Best consumed within a day to avoid browning of avocado. Consider adding a little extra lime juice before sealing to help prevent browning. Reheating is not recommended; enjoy at room temperature.
