Ingredients

For the Broth

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili paste adjust for spice preference

For the Dumplings

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup water for dumpling dough

For the Soup

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, snap peas)
  • 2 pieces green onions sliced, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large pot, combine chicken broth, water, soy sauce, and chili paste. Bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in the 1/2 cup of water until a dough forms. Knead it briefly until it’s smooth and pliable.
  • Pinch off small portions of the dough and roll them into small balls, aiming for a bite-sized diameter, about 1 inch.

Cooking

  • Once the broth is simmering, add the mixed vegetables to it and let them soften for about 3–4 minutes.
  • Gently drop the dumplings into the simmering broth. Allow them to cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
  • Taste the broth and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Once the dumplings are ready, remove the pot from heat.

Serving

  • Ladle into bowls and top with fresh green onions for an added crunch and flavor!

Notes

To enjoy different flavors, consider topping with additional chili flakes or a splash of soy sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze the broth and dumplings separately for up to 2 months.
