Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 pinch salt to enhance flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients: measure out sugar, cream, butter, vanilla, pecans, and salt.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and heavy cream over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Continue cooking the mixture without stirring until it reaches a rolling boil, around 235°F (113°C).
  • Remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.
  • Quickly add chopped pecans to the mixture and mix well before it thickens.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper or parchment paper and allow to cool completely.
  • Enjoy your cooled pralines! Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Notes

For best results, use a candy thermometer to check the temperature, and avoid stirring once the sugar is boiling to prevent crystallization. Store in an airtight container or freeze for later enjoyment.
