Ingredients

  • For the Batter:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • For the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Step-by-Step Instructions
  • Prepare the Oven and Pan:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Mix the Dry Ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients:
  • In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Make the Batter:
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  • Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  • Layer the Batter:
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Create the Swirl:
  • Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  • Bake the Bread:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and Serve:
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
