Ingredients

For the marinade

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For the skewers

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Bamboo skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

Marinating

  • In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Add the shrimp and toss to coat them in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes.

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Skewering

  • Thread the marinated shrimp onto soaked bamboo skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp.

Grilling

  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

Serving

  • Remove from the grill, sprinkle with chopped green onions, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce or over a bed of rice.

Notes

Use fresh shrimp for best flavor. Don't over-marinate and soak bamboo skewers to prevent burning.
