  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Helps to activate the yeast.
  • 1 package active dry yeast Ensure the yeast is fresh for proper rising.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  • Punch down the dough, roll it out, and shape as desired for your pizza.

Notes

If you have leftover dough, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months, thawing overnight in the fridge before use. You can add herbs or spices like garlic powder, oregano, or basil to the flour for extra flavor.
