  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, and egg.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough will be slightly lumpy.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Prepare Filling and Assemble

  • In another small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the swirl.
  • Pour half of the bread mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  • Pour the remaining dough over it and finish with the rest of the filling.
  • Using a knife, swirl the dough a few times to create that beautiful cinnamon swirl effect.

Baking

  • Place in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use fresh apples and avoid overmixing the batter. Experiment with spices like nutmeg for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze slices for up to three months.
