Ingredients
  

For the Base

  • 1 cup rolled oats Old-fashioned oats work best.
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey Use to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 medium apple, diced Or grated for a softer texture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl or mason jar, combine the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup or honey, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • Fold in the diced or grated apple, ensuring the apple pieces are well-distributed throughout the mixture for flavor in every bite.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness if desired by adding an extra drizzle of syrup or honey.
  • If you want a visual appeal, layer the oat mixture with more diced apples in between layers in your mason jar.
  • Cover your jar or bowl and place it in the refrigerator overnight (or at least for 4 hours) to allow the oats to soak and soften.
  • In the morning, give the oats a quick stir and top them with your favorite toppings like nuts, seeds, additional apple slices, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. These oats are ready to eat directly from the fridge, no reheating needed.
