  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups warm water Temperature should be around 110°F (43°C).
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add salt, oil, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough, divide it into two loaves, and place them in greased loaf pans.
  • Cover again and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Let the loaves cool before slicing.

Notes

Store wrapped in plastic wrap or foil at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze sliced bread in a freezer bag for about three months. Can be toasted directly from the freezer.
