Ingredients

Sauce:

  • cup fresh orange juice
  • cup fresh lemon juice
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon grated orange zest
  • ½ teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Salad:

  • 2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
  • 3 bananas, sliced
  • 2 oranges, peeled and sectioned
  • 1 cup seedless grapes
  • 2 cups blueberries

Instructions

To make the sauce:

  • Combine orange juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, orange zest, and lemon zest in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Then, lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for around 5 minutes until it slightly thickens. Take the saucepan off the heat and blend in the vanilla extract. To ensure optimal results, it is advisable to allow the sauce to cool before utilizing it.

For the salad:

  • Arrange the fruit in the following sequence - pineapple, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bananas, oranges, grapes, and blueberries - in a spacious and transparent glass bowl. Afterward, pour the sauce, which should have been cooled, over the fruit. Once done, cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for a period of 3 to 4 hours, allowing the flavors to blend. At this point, the dish is prepared to be served.
