Kitchen Equipment Needed:
- Heavy saucepan
- Wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula
- 8-inch square baking pan
- Aluminum foil or parchment paper
- Knife for cutting the fudge
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions:
- Prepare the Baking Pan:
- Line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving some overhang to lift the fudge out later. Lightly grease the foil or paper.
- Combine the Ingredients:
- In a heavy saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, evaporated milk, unsalted butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula until the mixture comes to a full rolling boil.
- Boil the Mixture:
- Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil, continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 4-5 minutes. The mixture should thicken slightly.
- Add Marshmallows and Chocolate Chips:
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the mini marshmallows, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vanilla extract. Continue stirring until the marshmallows and chocolate are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add Nuts (Optional):
- If using, fold in the chopped nuts until evenly distributed.
- Pour into Pan:
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with the spatula.
- Cool and Set:
- Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or until completely set. For quicker setting, you can refrigerate the fudge for about 1 hour.
- Cut and Serve:
- Once set, use the overhanging foil or parchment paper to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into small squares using a sharp knife.
Enjoy this TOLL HOUSE® Famous Fudge as a delightful treat that melts in your mouth with every bite. Its rich and creamy texture makes it an irresistible addition to any dessert table!
