Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  1. Large skillet
  2. Large pot for boiling noodles
  3. Mixing bowls
  4. Baking dish
  5. Whisk

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Noodle Bake:

  • 8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Assemble the Noodle Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles and cooked meatballs. Pour the sauce over the noodle and meatball mixture, tossing gently to coat everything evenly.
  5. Bake: Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the Swedish Meatball Noodle Bake from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of this delicious casserole.
