Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  1. 9×13-inch baking dish
  2. Mixing bowls
  3. Electric mixer (optional)
  4. Spatula or wooden spoon

Ingredients:

For the Cookie Bars:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Cookie Dough: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Mix the Dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter mixture, mixing until well combined. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky.
  5. Spread the Dough in the Baking Dish: Press the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, using a spatula or the back of a spoon to smooth it out.
  6. Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Topping: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the top of the cookie dough in the baking dish.
  7. Bake the Bars: Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake the cookie bars for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the baking dish from the oven and let the cookie bars cool completely in the dish. Once cooled, cut the bars into squares or rectangles and serve.
  9. Enjoy: Serve these delicious Snickerdoodle Cookie Bars as a sweet treat for any occasion. Whether enjoyed with a glass of milk or as a dessert after dinner, they’re sure to be a hit with everyone!
