Hawaiian Roll French Toast is a delightful breakfast treat that’s soft and fluffy with a hint of sweetness from the rolls. It’s not too heavy or overly sweet either. I think it’s a perfect breakfast or brunch option, and if you’re not a fan of overly sweet dishes, feel free to adjust the sugar to your liking.

It will still be undeniably delicious! If you’re looking for a light & airy breakfast that’s not overly sweet, you’ve come to the right place. When you make fluffy Hawaiian rolls and pair them with a custardy egg mixture, you get the perfect French toast. The addition of fresh fruits or a drizzle of syrup just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for comforting breakfast dishes, and this dreamy French toast reminds me of cozy weekend mornings. Not a fan of too much sweetness? Don’t worry, it’s still delicious with less sugar.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh fruit for serving

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Hawaiian Rolls:
    • Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected as a sheet, or you can separate them if you prefer individual pieces.
  2. Make the Egg Mixture:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar (if using) until well combined.
  3. Soak the Rolls:
    • Dip each piece or sheet of Hawaiian rolls into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well-coated but not soaked through to the point of falling apart.
  4. Cook the French Toast:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.
    • Place the soaked rolls onto the hot skillet.
    • Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer the French toast to a serving plate.
    • Top with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh fruit as desired.

Notes:

  • Hawaiian Roll French Toast pairs well with fresh berries, bananas, or a dollop of whipped cream.
  • You can add more or less sugar and cinnamon to suit your taste preferences.

Hawaiian Roll French Toast is a comforting and sweet breakfast treat that is sure to become a favorite. Enjoy!
