Funnel Cake Bites are delightfully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, dusted with powdered sugar for a sweet finish. They’re not heavy or overly sweet either. I think they’re a perfect treat for any occasion, whether it’s a family gathering, a fun fair, or just a cozy day at home.

If you’re looking for a light & airy dessert that’s not overly sweet, you’ve come to the right place. When you make these mini versions of classic funnel cakes, you get the perfect bite-sized treat. The addition of powdered sugar just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for something fun and these funnel cake bites remind me of summer fairs and carnivals. Not a fan of powdered sugar? Don’t worry, they’re still delicious with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large skillet or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  2. Heat the Oil:
    • In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the Bites:
    • Using a small spoon or a piping bag, carefully drop small dollops of batter into the hot oil. Fry the bites in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet.
    • Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bites from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain.
  4. Serve:
    • Dust the funnel cake bites with powdered sugar while they are still warm.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy, sweet Funnel Cake Bites with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel if desired.

These Funnel Cake Bites are sure to be a hit with everyone, providing a perfect blend of crispy and airy textures in every bite.
