Crock Pot Lasagna is a delightfully hearty dish that’s layered with rich marinara sauce, tender noodles, and creamy cheese. It’s not complicated or overly time-consuming either. I think it’s a perfect meal for a cozy dinner, and if you’re not a fan of ricotta, feel free to substitute with cottage cheese.

It will still be undeniably delicious! If you’re looking for a comforting & satisfying meal that’s easy to prepare, you’ve come to the right place. When you assemble this lasagna and let it cook slowly, you get the perfect melding of flavors and textures. The addition of fresh herbs just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for some comforting homemade cooking, and this lasagna reminds me of family dinners and gatherings. Not a fan of ricotta? Don’t worry, it’s still delicious with cottage cheese.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Crock Pot (slow cooker)
  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Cook the Meat:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef (or turkey) with the diced onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Stir in the marinara sauce, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Add the dried basil, oregano, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and the egg. Mix well.
  4. Assemble the Lasagna:
    • Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the crock pot. Place a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, breaking them to fit if necessary. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
  5. Cook:
    • Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 4-5 hours, or until the noodles are tender and the lasagna is cooked through.
  6. Add the Remaining Cheese:
    • About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the top. Cover and let the cheese melt.
  7. Serve:
    • Cut into pieces and serve hot. Enjoy!

This Crock Pot Lasagna is a convenient and delicious way to enjoy a classic comfort food without spending hours in the kitchen. Enjoy!
