Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • 9×13-inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Fork or skewer
  • Rubber spatula
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients: For the Cake:

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) white cake mix, plus ingredients called for on the box (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 package (3 ounces) strawberry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water

For the Whipped Cream Frosting:

  • 2 cups heavy cream, chilled
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Topping:

  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the white cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly in the pan.
  3. While the cake is still warm, use a fork or skewer to poke holes all over the surface of the cake, making sure to poke all the way to the bottom.
  4. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the strawberry-flavored gelatin in boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. Stir in the cold water.
  5. Carefully pour the strawberry gelatin mixture over the warm cake, making sure to fill the holes. Allow the cake to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the gelatin to set.
  6. In a chilled mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream using an electric mixer or whisk until soft peaks form. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  7. Spread the whipped cream frosting evenly over the chilled cake.
  8. If desired, garnish the cake with fresh sliced strawberries and sprinkles for a festive touch.
